Isotope Geo-/Cosmochemistry

  • Nucleosynthetic anomalies of volatile elements in primitive meteorites
  • Melting and magma differentiation in volcanic arcs using U-series isotopes (e.g., 238U/230Th, 230Th/226Ra and 232Th/228Ra)
  • Constraining the timing and geological evolution of sub-cratonic lithospheric mantle using highly siderophile elements (e.g., Os, Ir, Ru, Pt, Pd, Re) and the 187Re-187Os radiogenic isotope system

Analytical Expertise

  • Ion-exchange chromatography (HSE, Sn, In, Cd, U-Th-Ra)
  • Mass Spectrometry (Neptune MC-ICP-MS, Triton TIMS, Element SF-ICP-MS)
  • Routinely working in the clean lab
  • Experience with EPMA, µ-CT
  • Experimental experience: Piston-cylinder, 1 atm furnace
  • Data acquisition and evaluation of crystal size distributions
  • Micro-sampling with micro-drill and laser-ablation
