CRC1211 - Subproject D02: Dating of supergene minerals - Insights into the evolution of aridity in the Atacama
This sub-project reconstructs the climate history of northern Chile (Paposo, Caleta el Cobre, Marimaca, and Arica) by studing supergene copper minerals as paleoclimatic archives to constrain the timing and environmental conditions of the onset of hyper-arid conditions in the Atacama Desert.

Current focus:
- U-Pb geochronology of chrysocolla and cosmogenic nuclide dating ³⁶Cl
- Stable isotope analysis D and O to track paleofluid sources
